Spanish music from the 19th and 20th centuries will star in the eleventh edition of the Rey Balduino Ciudad de Motril Music Festival (Granada), whose repertoire, entirely Spanish, will include works by Joaquín Turina, Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados and Isaac Albéniz, among others. .
The Festival, which will be held on July 27 and 28, was created to commemorate the death of King Baudouin of Belgium, who had a great love for music and spent long periods at the Vila Astrida residence in this town on the Costa Tropical. where he died on July 31, 1993 at age 63.
As explained by the Cultural Advisor of the Provincial Council of Granada, Samuel Peña, the Partiture Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Juan Paulo Gómez, will open the festival with a performance of the concert called 'Ibérica', in which Ignacio Arrojo will perform as piano soloist. . The program will close with the Ciudad de Atarfe Symphony Orchestra, which, under the direction of José Antonio Guerrero, will perform a program called “Spanish Music” around Amor Brujo, which will feature the participation of the singer María de los Ángeles Martínez.
According to the Councilor for Culture of Motril, Francisco Ruiz, it is a program designed for all audiences that includes a selection of the most representative works of Spanish musical literature composed in the 19th and 20th centuries. EFE
