Starting with the 2020 edition, Iberian Sinfonietta will be one of the award-winning orchestras of the Intercentros Melómano young soloists competition. This competition, which will now be in its nineteenth edition, is an initiative of the Orfeo Foundation created in 2002 with the aim of promoting the active participation of students from conservatories and authorized music centers in professional competitions, in which that their work and effort are evaluated by a jury of recognized prestige. One of the foundation's main commitments is to support young musicians at the beginning of their careers.
The agreement between both institutions was carried out on July 21 between Juan Paulo Gómez , musical and artistic director of the Malaga orchestra, and Alfonso Carraté Fernández , president of the foundation. Through it, the winner of this edition in the Higher Level category of the Competition will perform a concert as a soloist in one of the orchestra's concerts during the 2021-2022 season.
With this initiative, like the Orfeo Foundation , Iberian Sinfonietta wants to express its support for the young talents of our country by contributing a grain of sand in this difficult start of their professional careers, especially in the world of Classical Music .
