IBERIAN SINFONIETTA WILL ESTABLISH ITS HEADQUARTERS IN BENALMÁDENA

THE CITY COUNCIL SIGNS AN AGREEMENT WITH THE IBERIAN SINFONIETTA ORCHESTRA FOR IT TO ESTABLISH ITS RESIDENCE IN BENALMÁDENA

The Councilor for Culture, Elena Galán, presented this morning the collaboration agreement between the City Council and the Iberian Sinfonietta Orchestra, together with its director, Juan Paulo Gómez. “The agreement contemplates that this orchestra establishes its residence in Benalmádena, carrying out its rehearsals in the town,” the councilor announced.

“In return, the orchestra is committed to holding some concerts and their final rehearsals open to the public of Benalmádena,” Galán said. “In addition, through this collaboration the name of Benalmádena will be present outside the municipality in the classical music circuits, since it will appear on the concert posters,” said Galán, who recalled that the orchestra was in charge of inaugurating the Culture on the Street program in 2018, with a concert at the entrance of the House of Culture.

For his part, the orchestra director has highlighted the didactic nature of the agreement: “We want the rehearsals open to the public to have a didactic nature.” Likewise, he has expressed his intention for the orchestra to collaborate with other associations and cultural groups in the municipality, such as choirs or music schools.

The agreement with the orchestra, which has between 15 and 20 members, is for a period of two years. Rehearsals will usually take place in the dance room in front of the Ovoide, and occasionally in the assembly hall of the House of Culture.
